PROGRAMS FOR 2018

MEETINGS TO BE HELD AT ROYAL MOBILE ESTATES,

1055 NORTH 5TH ST., JACKSONVILLE

January 28—3:00pm –  Presentation by Arnie Abrams on New Orleans

February 17 – Our club will march in the Chinese New Year Parade in Jacksonville.  This is an outreach effort in celebration of “World Friendship Day”.

February 25—3:00pm— Presentation by participants from the outgoing Australia trip September 2017

     Members of our chapter who traveled to Australia last September will share photos and stories of their trip. Besides visiting Kempsey and Brisbane, some members also went to           Sydney, Cairns, Tasmania and New Zealand.

 March 12-19 – Outbound Exchange to Costa Rica

 March 25—3:00pm   No meeting while members are in Costa Rica

 April 22—3:00pm   Presentation by Karen Grove on the geology of Patagonia (Earth Day celebration), Silent Auction

     We will also hold our silent auction fundraiser at the meeting. Come a few minutes early to put in your bids.

May 20  - 3:00pm  Presentation by FFSO Costa Rica 2018 participants.

      Members of our chapter will share their experiences of their trip to San Jose, Costa Rica in March. Several members are also doing a tour of other parts of the country.

 June 24 – 3:00pm   Presentation by Steven and Karen Good on a road trip across America (tentative)

      The Goods did a several month long road trip across the country in December 2017. Pulling a camper, they went all over the south and Midwest. They visited a lot of off the                  beaten track places. Come and get some ideas for new travel destinations.

July  –  Summer picnic? Wine tasting at Daisy Creek winery?

August 29 (Wednesday)—Fundraiser dinner at Original Roadhouse Grill?

     Dinner at the Original Roadhouse Grill in Medford. They will donate 10% of the money we spend to our club.

September – Inbound Exchange with the FF Club from Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada

September 23— No meeting for inbound exchange activity or…

     Presentation by Steve Pierce of Alpha Beta farms on the local hop industry (tentative)

     Southern Oregon was once one of the leading producers of hops in the country. Steve and Rebecca Pierce own Alpha Beta Hop farm in Ashland. They organically grow hops and          sell them for use in tinctures and beer. They invite friends over to pluck the hops from the bines at harvest time.

October 28—3:00pmOur scholarship winner will discuss his/her experiences abroad.

     Election of 2019 officers to be held.   

November. There is no meeting in November because it is too close to our Christmas party.

December 2—1:00pmANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY—Bring your favorite dish to share and help celebrate the holiday season.
